What are image metadata?

Image metadata are data that describe and provide information about an image. These data can include details about the camera used to take the photo, camera settings, geographical location, date and time the photo was taken, and much more.

Some image generators can also include metadata such as copyright information, license information, keywords, and descriptions that help organize and categorize images.

Why are image metadata important?

Image metadata are important because they provide valuable information about an image. This information can be useful for photographers, graphic designers, image editors, and anyone working with digital images. Image metadata can also be helpful for organizing and categorizing images, as well as protecting the intellectual property of an image.

What types of metadata can I view?

The tool will display the image metadata, including Exif, IPTC, XMP, ICC, and MPF data if available.

How does it work?

1
Select the image(s) you want to view metadata for by dragging and dropping them into the upload area or clicking the button: Click to select file. The files will be processed locally in your browser, and will not be uploaded to any server.
2
Once you've selected your files, they will appear in a small file manager. You can remove files you don't want to view metadata for or add more files. You can view metadata for up to 30 files at a time.
3
When you select a file, the metadata will be displayed in the right sidebar as a data tree that you can expand to view details. You'll also find a button that allows you to copy the metadata to the clipboard.
4
If you want to export metadata for all images at once, simply click the Process button and a zip file with all metadata in JSON format will be generated.
